Could it be you?
- Helping to get the message out about sustainable living
- Connecting with like-minded people in a small community
I'm looking for new people to join me as a Supporter. You might have noticed, I was really quiet online for a while. Life was busy with both my children taking exams: GCSEs and A Levels, the end of academic year events and even the end of my cancer treatment. The latter was obviously joyful, I was relieved and grateful but it also brought up a lot about the whole experience of having had cancer. Alongside this, I have been supporting other people with cancer which, for me, is a very difficult thing to do, dredging post-traumatic stress back up to the surface where it has laid, at the best of times, just below. For one person, this unfortunately ended in June when I came back from my holiday to find out my friend, of 35 years, had died. The terminal prognosis had never been far from my mind these last 18 months or so.
Not long after, as well as all the usual emotions grief brings up, fatigue set in. I never fully recovered my energy levels since my own cancer diagnosis with cancer-related fatigue taking my energy for a long time after my discharge from oncology. Once again, it was here. To do anything was exhausting no matter how much I slept or rested. Simple tasks like a load of laundry became anything but. So I, once again, began the task of paring back and taking away all but the absolute necessary. I’d been here before and I knew what to do but it scared me! It’s no way to exist, pure survival mode, but I had no choice. All the writing, I love to do and the social media content had to stop. I couldn’t work, I just had to stop.
Over the last few weeks, I've started to return to social media. I'm still tired but the constant fatigue is lifting. I've worked, a little, on my
shop, introducing a couple of men's t-shirts and I, even, have a day of work planned tomorrow. As I start this return, I am relaunching my online subscriptions with a new look Patreon page and the invitation to join me.
Patreon has been a crucial part of my funding for years now but currently some if my funding has ended leaving me with a lot less coming in than going out! It used to fully fund this blog allowing me to create free content for everyone without the annoying adverts. Now it's not.
I feel so lucky to be member funded rather than having to look for sponsorship. Patreon allows me to be truly independent and say what I think without worrying about offending a brand.
Subscription benefits include:
* Free items from my Patreon shop
* Automatic entry to all giveaways
* The option of your name credited at the end of
pieces of my work
* Exclusive access to the chat and all Patreon
posts
* A warm glow knowing you are helping me with
my work
As I relaunch you will also have the opportunity to reshape the membership to suit those supporting me; it has always evolved with what members want.
I know that my work makes a difference. People tell me specific things they have changed due to reading my posts. There will also be lots of ripples I will never know about, but I believe they are there, that one change ripples out to create a small shift in culture and lots of ripples, well you know, they can cause a big wave!
My vision is for a world in which people live sustainably in connection to themselves, each other and the rest of the natural world.
Can you help me to make this happen?
