I've had a hundred deliveries from Riverford!
I know this as they phoned to thank me!
I usually get the 100% UK grown veg box but didn't this time as I didn't need the lettuce, already having one left from the previous week plus some growing in the garden. I like how I just decide on a Tuesday evening what we need and it's then delivered, to us, on a Thursday.
I switched to Riverford from my local greengrocers because of the importance of eating organic food for our health and the health of the living planet. It is a privilege as, of course, organic food has a greater cost - for the consumer but a lower cost to our environment. However, the veg boxes are really good value and actually not that much more than the non-organic produce I was previously buying.
All of the fruit and vegetable boxes are plastic-free. The film is home-compostable or can be returned to be composted by Riverford. They also do a zero packaging box. The boxes are picked up when we have our next delivery and reused.
I think I must be a Riverford Super Fan!!

Courses
Preparing Girls For Puberty is an online webinar run every month especially for female carers (they do a separate webinar for male carers). In the webinar they open a conversation to deal with girls most frequent questions. They discuss girl's needs, how to have open conversations early on, introduce menstrual products and other techniques and resources to open the big topic of puberty. The focus is on supporting girls and helping them grow up with confidence but the environment and eco-friendly products are also discussed. I found it really helpful and would definitely recommend it. Click here for more information.

As you can see this page is a work in progress. I’ve got lots more recommendations, many of which I’ve mentioned on my social media platforms. I am trying to get them all in one place to create a useful resource. You can help me by becoming a Rhubarb and Runner Beans member for as little as £1 a month.
