"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better." - Maya Angelou

Hi, I'm Sarah and I'm on an adventure towards a more eco-friendly way of living and a gentler more respectful way of interacting with children.
I'm glad you are here to join me!
I live in Devon, England with my husband and two children aged 14 and 16. I started off being a regular, mainstream type of parent but, after a while, reflected on what it means to be a parent and what my role should be. This has lead me to change some of the things I considered 'normal' such as rewards and punishments and move towards a consent-based approach to parenting.
For as long as I can remember I have been a keen recycler and lover of the planet. However, I have now revved it up a gear! I have a '7Rs' approach to consuming anything: I Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Rot, Recycle, Return meaning our wheelie bin got down to only being full every 6 months! I haven't tested this for a while and actually put my, almost empty, bin out every 3 weeks but still continue to lower our impact on the planet and I rarely leave the house without my reusable coffee cup for fear of needing a caffeine fix and being unprepared!
I am trying to create a natural childhood for my children where they learn and play at home following their own interests. This has, obviously, changed now they have become teens but leave this picture here for nostalgic reasons and to make the point that teens still need play!
